No Fuel Needed: Squad Mobility's Solar-Powered Urban Mobility Solution
Fuel is required in nearly all processes we take part in during the course of our day. Work requires fuel. Consumption of commodities often requires fuel. Transportation requires a lot of it. Motor gasoline remains one of the most polluting substances in the world today. What if it could be replaced with something more efficient and sustainable? This is the question Squad Mobility is asking.
Squad Mobility is a firm out of the Netherlands which is trying to promote the use of solar energy in transportation. The Dutch start-up has already successfully produced a two man solar electric vehicle for use in cities which can run emission free for most of the year in sunny countries in the EU. The best part is -- it's affordable.
Unlike most solar energy vehicles in the market today like those produced by Tesla or Lightyear, Squad Mobility is aiming its offerings at the general public. Noting that the impact of electric vehicles will largely be marginal without widespread adoption, the firm made it their goal to produce affordable electric vehicles. Their current EV goes for about 6,000 Euro, roughly $7000 compared to Tesla Model 3’s $38000.
Sustainability is quickly becoming the focal point of technological advancements. Global warming is today the biggest threat to the continued existence of mankind. While all firms attempting to leverage solar energy are important to the ecosystem, products with the broadest applicability are hugely important. And in this field, there are few ahead of Squad Mobility.
