EnSol AS's Spray-On Solar Film
A revolutionary invention in the field of solar panel technology, is the ‘spray-on’ solar film invented by the Norweigan solar power company, EnSol. This solar film patented by EnSol is a thin film solar cell technology that is designed in a way that can be sprayed onto windows and glass surfaces allowing such surfaces to become power generators. The material of this film is composed of metal nanoparticles embedded in a transparent composite cast that can be easily sprayed on. This type of material is much more convenient and easy as opposed to the traditional silicone-based solar panels. Once the spray is used on the windows, they are potentially able to generate solar power without blocking the view as the windows get only slightly tinted. Another important advantage of this progressive invention, is that it can be sprayed onto the structure of buildings and car rooftops as well, and not just on windows. The solar film sprayed on the building will have a higher degree of absorption as compared to the windows, making even the walls of the building potential solar power generators. As for the car rooftops, the solar film can be sprayed on to generate power for the car batteries.
The efficiency of this solar film is much higher as compared to regular solar power devices. Due to its ability to coat large surfaces, this film is also cheaper in the long run. The very concept of solar panels being available in the form of a spray that can potentially turn any surface into a solar power generator, is a huge step towards the conservation of energy resources. It is a cost-effective device that maximizes the use of the clean, renewable energy source- solar power.
